I used Mandrake d/l edition for a long time, so have absolutely no experience with the recording capability using various applications designed for that purpose. Since SuSE v8.2PE I have tried DAP, audacity, qarecord, & krecord --all w/o success. It was suggested that I kill aRts before attempting the recordings but each & every one of the stated apps loads it if it has been killed ...thereby defeating me before I start. Someone informed me in the SuSE NG that they were using 'arecord' and having no problems as long as they used some command line options when loading aRts. So... three questions (since I have been unable to raise that party since his post): (1)where does one find 'arecord'? Googling yielded nothing. (2)anyone else using command line switches when loading aRts? (3)in what script would it be safe to specify these switches? Thanks... ...CH -- SuSE is all U need 2 drive U nuts.
