Dennis,
This is not really a problem either as programs are available to do that
in Linux as well. I have found two very nice ones. One is a program
that displays in the systray, while the other is an applet with sounds,
mouse control, etc. I like the applet one the best myself, but have
rpm files for both if you should want them too. Just email me off
list. They are both small, so should not hurt in email transfer.
