Sax2 does not work at the moment. It stops at the very beginning. I know about the inittab runlevel and have my system now at default 3 in order to starin console. Thanks anyhow ;-) Is there a log file for sax?
From the console, run Sax2 to set up your video card. To have X load at startup (rather than booting into the console and running startx) set the default runlevel to 5 instead of 3. Look in your /etc/inittab file, it should read something like:
id:5:default:
instead of
id:3:default:
Hope that helps

Sorry for the repost but I did not get an answer so here it goes. My video card, a Matrox G 200 went down and a replacement S3, Savage 4 was the replacement. During booting the new hardware was with the 8.1 version recognised correctly and the XF86Config was changed accordingly with Yast2 in console.
After reboot I ended up in console. The grafic login did not work. Console works okay but X and KDE are out of reach. What should I do to get X back?
