FlightGear runs perfectly for me with an 800 MHz Duron and a GeForce 400 card. Even when I spin the arcraft into the ground, the action is smooth, so I doubt you have a hardware problem. I compiled mine from the latest source. It may be that the binary you have is not compiled with the correct libraries. Hope this is of some encouragement Basil Fowler On Friday 13 Jun 2003 09:38, Rohit wrote:

Some time ago [has it been a year already?] a british magazine called "linuxformat" included flightgear on a DVD [basically using the DVD to map "the entire world" ;) ] I just ran it "as is" from the disk on an old (by today's standards) laptop -- 1ghz, ATI rage mobility for video.
Thanks to Tom [and others],
I read carefully the emails from you all. I must provide these details to you before you guys suggest even more good info..
1. My system has a via motherboard. AGP runs at 1x only. Tried to push up, it hangs at 2x after a second. 4x is unattainable.
2. xvinfo gives positive input about my card. Uses hardware acceleration while playing movies etc for YUV. I have P3-450 and nvidia riva tnt2 M64 card.
3. 3Ddiag script confirms nvidia/glx loading and working.
4. 3Ddiag --mesasoft tells that mesa is NOT being used.
5. gears, earlier used to give me 30 fps, which now gives me 450 fps or so, after installation of nvidia [latest] drivers. Logs from X are fine. All loaded and done.
But flightgear is SO slow that I can not see a frame change. Only the lights at the horizon change. It is SO slow that I can go and come back after 15 minutes, and my plane would have barely taken a 45 degree turn on the road. And it never takes off.
What else could be wrong here? Or is it impossible to do it? Racing games using 3D work fine in windows with DirectX8.1 on the same dual boot machine.
