Hi, I am pretty new to both linux and Suse, so please apologize my
incorrect usage of terms :-)

I have a Suse 8.1 server behind a firewall and I want to access it
graphically from WinX dekstops

I started up with enabling xdmcp and kdm, I could log on thesever using
exceed withou problems as long as I was sitting on the same network behind
the firewall. But as soon as I moved outside the firewall I could not start
a Query session from Exceed and connect to my linux box (I of course opened
all the ports 6000-3 177 tcp/udp, that are used by xdmcp)
Exceed simply could not connect (please note that in my test, my windows
desktop was also behind a firewall... something like this Exceed->Windows
-> Nat Router -> Internet -> Nat Router -> Linux -> XDMCP)

I dropped that and started to think of vnc...

I succeded logging to my server using SSH and starting vncserver manually.
I succeded loging on the vncserver from my windows desktop using vncviewer,
but I only get a blank X window desktop.

Can anybody give me some info about how to
1) Start vncserver automatically (configure it as other services and be
able to control it with YaST runlevel editor)
2) Be able to log on vncserver and get the kdm (or gdm or...) login window,
eventually sharing the same screen as the one running on the box itself

Thank you for you patience and for any help

Andreas
