I am unable to mount my compact flash card with a pcmcia compact flash reader on SuSE 8.2. I googled on the topic, and found very little. The only suggestion that I found was to change from "kernel" to "externel" pcmcia, but this only locks up my system (as do many things apparently). Here is what I see in /var/log/messages when I insert the card: Jun 9 20:59:08 coolguy cardmgr[1500]: socket 1: ATA/IDE Fixed Disk Jun 9 20:59:08 coolguy cardmgr[1500]: executing: 'insmod -v /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB//pcmcia/ide-cs.o' Jun 9 20:59:08 coolguy cardmgr[1500]: + Using /lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB//pcmcia/ide-cs.o Jun 9 20:59:08 coolguy cardmgr[1500]: + Symbol version prefix '' Jun 9 20:59:08 coolguy kernel: ide-cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use Jun 9 20:59:09 coolguy cardmgr[1500]: get dev info on socket 1 failed: Resource temporarily unavailable So it seems that it doesn't like the choice of irq. However, I don't know what irq it is requesting, and I don't know how to change it either. I see there is a section in the /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia file (PCMCIA_PCIC_OPTS) where I can list free irqs. Honestly, I don't know how to obtail a list of free irqs. When I used to work with Windows I seem to remember that 9 was typically open, and 3 and 4 are typically used for hard drives. Any help would be appreciated. - Pete -- Pete Goodall <pete@convertd.net>
