Hi,
By two times (begining of April and end of May), I found a machine crashed in the 60 seconds following an unexpected system date change.
Both machines ar PC running SuSE 7.2 Pro with vtun (vtun.sourceforge.net), but that's probably the only things they share with each other. One is a P4 with much memory which runs heavy java stuff while the other is an old PII that just filters traffic with iptables. And in both cases, the system log shows that the system date changed backwards:
first case: lun. avr. 07 08:28:09 CEST 2003 -> jeu. avr. 03 16:29:31 CEST 2003
second case: May 27 13:47:16 -> Mar 18 11:22:00
less than 1 minute later, the machine hangs. Nothing to do but power it off and on again.
Any idea, anybody ?
Thanks,
Olivier.
