i tried cdparanoia with cdparanoia -vs -B and I get list of tracks on the CD and last line of ouput show: (== PROGRESS == [> O| ...... 00 ] == :^D O ==) , with cd-rom light on non-stop! Just a guess that the CD that you are trying to copy has scratches on it. I would use cdparanoia to do it. You can tell it to make a perfect copy I've used it before and it works great for me. Take a look and see if it works for you.
