Trying to install a Backups Pro, it seems to be working except that it cannot connect through port 7000, returns message saying this port is already in use. How can I get around this?
well as root run netstat -tupan |less this will tell you what exactly is hogging the port and what is running on each port. ---------------------- Eric Bambach Eric@CISU.net ----------------------
I am not sure what I was seeing with that but did not see anything that showed port usage. Listing was very short, only 20 lines. How would I shut it down to check that it is not already running? The console log shows me it is trying to access the port about once an hour and failing. By the way, I should mention I am using 8.0, with apcupsd from the installation disk, not from APC, if there is a difference. I have seen that each time I try to start the service I must manually delete the lock file for it to run. Do I shutdown the port first also? If so, how? Thanks for responding to my first request. I had looked for clues in /proc files and /etc files, without success. Richard
