I would like to know - is it possible to know user's password when you are root ???
No, since the passwords in /etc/shadow are either the resultant of a one-way hash function or MD5. However, root can su to any user and have access to all files on the system. Charles -- We come to bury DOS, not to praise it. (Paul Vojta, vojta@math.berkeley.edu, paraphrasing a quote of Shakespeare)
