# This is what I get, as both root and my user account:
#
# found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0, product=0x0201) at libusb:001:002
#
# I tried changing the device in /etc/sane.d/hp.conf to /dev/usb/scanner0,
# but that didn't work. Somehow, this is bundled up in the whole "libusb"
# thing, and I can't figure out what actual device in /dev is being used.
# Very frustrating!
This is the scanner I have. Since sane-find-scanner can see it, you
are almost home.
check /etc/sane.d/hp.conf
first line usb HP
under the line with HP ScanJet 62X0C should be "usb 0x03f0 0x0201"
last 2 lines should be:
/dev/usbscanner
option connect-device.
Sometimes I have to unplug and replug the usb cable, unplug and replug
the power cord because the lamp has gone into some kind of sleep mode.
As root, go to /dev and chmod 666 the /dev/usbscanner device.
scanimage -L should list the scanner; mine says "hp:libusb:004:004 is
a Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 62x0C flatbed scanner.
xscanimage should start the GUI for scanning.
Good luck.
