Silicon Image SATA chipsets appear to be supported in 8.1 and the driver is 
compiled in. I have no idea how well it works because I don't have a drive to 
plug into mine, but Silicon Image appears to have put a lot of work into SATA 
under Linux so it's probably a good bet.
