You can still use the "/etc/init.d/spamd" script that came with the SuSE rpm; just edit the line
SPAMD_BIN=/usr/bin/spamd
(the original uses "sbin").
Ok, Ok.... 5 different people have mentioned 5 different ways to do it. I DID NOT install spamassassin off the DVD because there WAS NO NEED TO. I always have used the CVS version. If you want to have an easy way to start SA, then load it off the DVD. I didn't. Do whatever it takes to make it work.
Or, use the script provided by the developpers in "Mail-SpamAssassin-2.53/spamd/suse-rc-script.sh" with instructions.
