<stuff snipped>

I honestly believe in paying for software (if that is what the developer or
wants). I even go so far as paying for Microsoft products because my sons
need them to run his game, edutainment and learning programs. I appreaciate
the fact that some people want compensation for the intellectual work. I
wanted it with the books and articles I published. So, if Caldera actually
has a case then I feel a moral obligation to stop using whatever it is that
is violating their rights. After all, I would hate someone to make money off
of one of my books or articles.

However, I am not stupid. Simply saying that that by using Linux I am doing
something illegal is not enough. After all, we are talking about millions of
lines of code in thousands of programs. I want to know just what it is that I
am doing that is illegal. I also find it somewhat insulting to claim I am
doing something illegal without giving me a chance to correct that problem.

So, perhaps I should just sue SCO. Not for millions of dollar, but just enough
to keep it within small claims court. With old Darl as the defendent, more
than likely he will have to appear personally rather than be able to send his
lawyer. (at least that is how it works in other states). So if thousands of
Linux users all sued Caldera in small claims court, (making sure it never
got to class action status), then we could keep 'em busy for the next couple
of years dealing with our law suits. If he doesn't show, then we win by
default and collect $500 (for example). Times 100,000 Linux users who decide
to sue, that's not a small piece of change. (which they probably don't have
to begin with.)

Just a thought.

jimmo
