KDE is local on the clients but the .kde is stored for each client on the 
server as we use NIS and autofs. Users who have logged in on the client which 
has 8.2 have noticed a much slower response to everything, especially OOo and 
gimp, to the ones that haven't. The link to the folder in /tmp in ~.kde has 
grown from 26Mb to 106Mb. I think the whole lot will have to be upgraded at 
the same time. And thanks, It's nice to know that the server can stay text.
