Problem: not able to access logical NTFS partitions in SuSE Linux 8.2 Personal Edition I have 2 hard disk drives. The first drive contains partitions: hda1 (Windows XP): primary, NTFS hda5: logical, NTFS hda6: logical, NTFS The second drive contains partition: hdb1: primary, FAT32 On installation the following mount points are proposed: hda1 = /windows/C hda5 = /windows/E hda6 = /windows/F hdb1 = /windows/D However, I would like to use the drive letters I use in Windows XP for the partitions, so I changed this to: hda1 = /windows/C hda5 = /windows/D hda6 = /windows/E hdb1 = /windows/H After installation, the KDE desktop contains icons for C and H, but not for D and E. I can find no way to create mount points for the 2 logical partitions on the first drive. I tried the Partitioning tool of Yast2. It will accept the mount points when entered, but after applying and closing the tool, the mount points disappear: on reopening the tool they are gone. I even tried changing /etc/fstab manually, but this too does not result in usable mount points. Trying to mount the partitions results in an error message about wrong fs type etc. So now I cannot access hda5 and hda6 from Linux, but I really want to. How can this be solved? Evert Haaksma
