I can only assume this is down to a different screen dpi setting (the resolution is the same at 1600x1200), but have not yet found a way to change it. I have been write through the FDU howto, but no improvement. Only the Adobe fonts look any good. There doesn't seem to be anyone with similar problems which is worrying, as I have installed 8.2 on 2 separate PCs with the same results. This seems to happen in all applications. I am not sure if it is relevant or related but the spacing between menus in OpenOffice.org seems greater than it used to be. Thanks for any ideas....
Mike.
I had a similar problem. After installing SuSE 8.2 all my fonts were much smaller than on 8.1. It seems, KDE 3.1 uses the DisplaySize in Section "Monitor" in /etc/X11/XF86Config to set the dpi. DisplaySize width height (in millimeters) I set the values to the real display size and the problem was gone. In my case: Section "Monitor" ... DisplaySize 284 213 ... Walter
