Hi I just installed SUSE 8.2 in my computer and I am having always when I try to install some program the conflict that the library jre.1.1 and 1.2 and 1.3 are not present in a bunch of programs and I cannot install them. Does someone know how to install that library or where it is?
You should have java installed in /usr/lib/java, which should go through a series of symbolic links to /usr/lib/BlackdownJava-1.4.1, which contains jre. 8.2 also provides SunJava-1.4.1 in /usr/lib and you can use that instead by changing the symbolic link (see man ln or use konqueror as root) You can install earlier versions of java. The natural place would be /usr/lib or perhaps /usr/local/lib. I think the way to specify a different version (e.g. some applications have managed to be 1.3.1-specific) is to use a command # JRE_HOME=/usr/lib/YourJava/jre YourProgram -- JDL Non enim propter gloriam, diuicias aut honores pugnamus set propter libertatem solummodo quam Nemo bonus nisi simul cum vita amittit.
