Hi,
I'm looking to buy a slides scanner to digitize my (24x36) slides. Is there anyone on the list who can recommend a brand/model that is available in western Europe?
I have a feeling that getting a scanner to work is still often a PITA and that many models are not supported (by SANE), also computer/photographics shops usually have a limited range of models on stock, making it difficult to find something appropriate.
TIA,
Martijn
Martijn, Not sure what you mean with the 24x36 slides, can't say that I have ever seen a 24 inch x 36 inch slide, but any of the Epson Photo scanners will work well for you. Should be no more than plugging into the USB port in 8.1 or 8.2 and immediate setup should occur! I have the 1650 model, which I believe is the 1660 now and there are higher models as well, if your budget allows for the cost of them. The Epson scanners are best supported, but others will work, although they may take a bit more work to get setup. IScan that Marshall mentions is Epson's own front end for sane and works very nicely. I believe you might find either xsane or kooka working with slides and negatives now also though.
