Just completed installing 8.2 on my wife's machine, a win2k box which is now a dual boot box. Never installed ANY product that went as smoothly and easy as this, but with one minor glitch, which I know has to do with resolution, but I'm not aware of the easy fix. The monitor, a Princeton VL173 17" Flat Panel Display defaults to 1280 x 1024 which SuSE install found and identified as such. However, after the install completed, the user display is larger than the screen with the result that about 1.5 inches of the display (desktop) is shifted off the left hand side of the screen which of course hides all the icons and the "K' button. I considered just using the monitor controls to shrink the display but they would not respond while linux was active and I imagine that even if they did I would have to keep switching back and forth using them each time the differing OSs were booted, so it's probably just as well that they didn't work. I believe the file I need to edit is xf86config, but which section and how to get the screen display proper is beyond my experience. The solution to this mystery (on my part) would be gratefully appreciated. dave -- David C.
