A full backup! :-| If you can't, then backup everything you can not afford to loose (/home probably), including configuration files (/etc). I have
some programs installed, which have not been in the distribution,
backup /usr/local/*, and the sources or rpms of all thos new things.
How can I make sure that these are not lost, or that the upgrade install again its version of these programs?
Try the upgrade, and follow the instructions carefully. Check that the install programs detects all your partitions (expert mode probably). It should ask you about packages it doesn't know what to do. It should work, but if it fails, you have the backup. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
