When in SuseHelp (suse 8.1) I go to "Manpages", and I get back the same page (mozilla), ie, nothing. If I use links, at least I see the error: | 403 Forbidden | Forbidden | | You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/ on this server. It is trying "http://localhost/cgi-bin/", which I think it is incorrect. I try "http://localhost/cgi-bin/info2html" and I get the index page (correct). However, going to "http://localhost/cgi-bin/man2html" fails. If I go to "http://localhost/cgi-bin/manpage" I get: | UNIX Manual Page: man |No manual page support | | All the programs required to support manual page | queries were not available or were not in the | expected locations. The following programs are | required: | | /usr/bin/man standard manual page program | /usr/bin/col to filter reverse-line feeds | /usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin/man2html to convert the output of /usr/bin/man to HTML In fact, "/usr/bin/man" is a link to "mandb" and "cgi-bin/man2html" is instead in "/srv/www/cgi-bin/man2html" So I edit "/srv/www/cgi-bin/manpage": | #MAN2HTML=/usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin/man2html | MAN2HTML=/srv/www/cgi-bin/man2html I don't change "MAN=/usr/bin/man" to "MAN=/usr/bin/mandb" because that yields incorrect results: | UNIX Manual Page: man (p1 of 2) | Purging old database entries in /usr/share/man/de... | Processing manual pages under /usr/share/man/de... | Checking for stray cats under /usr/share/man/de... | ... | Checking for stray cats under /var/cache/man/opt... | 20 man subdirectories contained newer manual pages. | 619 manual pages were added. | 0 stray cats were added. | 1 old database entries were purged. Then browsing to "http://localhost/cgi-bin/manpage" I get an empty page, but In the error log I see: | /srv/www/cgi-bin/manpage: line 1: /usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin/unquote: No such file or directory | What manual page do you want? So I again edit "/srv/www/cgi-bin/manpage": | #UNQUOTE=/usr/local/httpd/cgi-bin/unquote | UNQUOTE=/srv/www/cgi-bin/unquote Now browsing to "http://localhost/cgi-bin/manpage" I still get an empty page, but at last "http://localhost/cgi-bin/manpage?man" does work. Now, there should be a way to yield the list of man pages, I suppose. There is a variable: | MANPATH=/usr/share/man:/usr/share/catman:/usr/share/man:/usr/catman:/usr/man which I think is partly incorrect; at least, there is no catman: | ls: /usr/share/catman: No such file or directory | ls: /usr/catman: No such file or directory and locate does not find anything usefull: | /etc/cron.daily/clean_catman | /usr/bin/catman | /usr/share/man/de/man8/catman.8.gz | /usr/share/man/es/man8/catman.8.gz | /usr/share/man/it/man8/catman.8.gz | /usr/share/man/ja/man8/catman.8.gz | /usr/share/man/man8/catman.8.gz | /var/cache/man/cat8/catman.8.gz What am I missing? How do I get the list of manpages? -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
