But my ip is 192.168.2.1 (its something else ofcourse but so you get the idea), it seems that when the gateway is on another subnet, in this case 192.168.2 instead of 192.168.2 it just freaks with that comment.
Im getting kinda annoyed because it works with XP
A default gateway needs to be reachable without any extra rules. Either that means it's on your subnet, or there's a bridge somewhere that transparently routes packages to the gateway.
This cannot possibly work in XP. It's just not the way networks function
Yup, your gateway *has* to be on a reachable subnet. You can get this to work by setting your netmask to 255.255.0.0. Then you'll be on the same subnet. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+tr62+FOexA3koIgRAkX1AJ0dhhK6kk1jsNewl2Su985aI5U0cwCfS2NL ZxWx0GQ9TE01guyXT4S6d6g= =l4mt -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
