device mounting question

I have an IDE Seagate Travan Tape drive (4G/8G). How do I mount it (e.g., what file system should I enter)? I suppose it would be a good idea to put an entry for it in my fstab. I did a quick hardware check using YAST2 and discovered that the device is hdd. Of course, this may not mean much since the hardware specs include my CDROM driver as hdc, while it is entered on fstab as /dev/cdrom. Thanks for your help -- Dennis Tuchler
