Thanks a lot (especially to David Krider) for all the help.

However, nothing so far worked out for me.
Why are we having this problem?  David mentioned once that it is because
my password is a plain text?  [ I am sure that he meant some more. ]
Can I just avoid all this hassle and
use a strange characters as my new password?  That does not sound right.

I cannot just spend any more time on this one.   I am giving up and
The 8.2 upgrade turned out to be a disaster, because if I switch to
"pine" as my mail client, I know I cannot deal with the spam mails
at all.

I blame the SuSE team.   They should give us a clean upgrade path.
It is not a clean upgrade at all.  I would say it is terrible.

Strange thing is that there is no mention about it in the Administration
Guide.  The more strange is that not many people are complaining about
it.  I don't understand why?  Are they not using Pop3d or Imapd at all?

Plesae help from someone who uses Mozilla-mail as his/her mail
client with no problem.
