8.2 under kde. Where is the 'file manager super user mode' that used to be on the 8.1 system menu? Or how can I put it back? Thanks, Steve.
The default settings is the SuSE menu, but if you enable the standard KDE menu from the Control Centre, it's there under System/more programs. You can use the menu editor to move it to wherever you want.

Likewise, you can go into the menu editor by right clicking on the Kmenu/applicatin menu. The look at the top for "Settings" and check the "Show Hidden Items" and then have a look at the menu. You might be surprised to find a few things in there that could be of interest - including the super user mode konqueror. Having just did this and looking at the command I notice that the command for this is a generic "konqueror", and of course the tittle is "File Manager - Super User Mode"... Hmmm. But the only difference is that the "Run as a different user" box is checked, yet blank? Yell, does one assume that this, having a blank space in this space, defualts to a kdesu in some unique fashion? But I digress. Have a look at some of the hidden items in the menu editor. Some things that may or may not be there, such as, a few versions of konq with some varying command line params setup for "inodes" and others similiar things would best be used carefully due to the implication it has to hosing ones system if not done with knowledge (or it just flat won't work 'cause your sys ain't setup for that stuff either :) ). Anyway, have a look at this and see if this does help. On a sidenote to the menu editor. You'll notice that a fair amount of apps in the menu don't have icons. If you really want to pretty things up you can go an associate the icons for all these as well - 90% of them are there, and then you can find subs for those that aren't. Just thought I'd mention this - - completely useless on off topic :-).
