USB in 8.1 is dead...help

Greetings,
I have followed the directions in the "Problems with USB in SuSE Linux 8.0" info sheet and still can't get USB working.
8.1 shows my Intel 82371 AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB Controller as okay, but the USB UHCI Root Hub is in the "unknown" list.
My HP 5200c is supported but I'm lost on this one. Dare I say USB Mandrake 9.0 (yuk) works fine but I prefer the overall SuSE experience overall.
