I have had 8.2 installed for abouta week and until last night it seemd to be working great. However, while downloading digital camera pictures using a pcmcia smart media reader, the system crashed, and now on bootup it hangs at the point where pcmcia is initialized. I can get it to boot by disabling pcmcia (NOPCMIA=yes), but as a result of the lack of pcmcia, I need to change from wireless to wired networking. After runninng the network configuration part of YAST, the system hangs at the 'starting network' pont (about 77% complete on the little progress bar.) Both of the hangs are permanent and hard. No keys or mouse work, no reboot with ctrl-alt delete , etc. and i waited for over an hour and still no change. I'ld really appreciate any advice on solving this problem short of reinstalling. Thanks! Bernie Gardner
