Have you tired the SuSE support database?
Im sure i saw something about having to run setup twice with that RAID
controller to correct the problem.....

Under SuSE 8.1 it's detected and sees the 4 harddisks (2 mirror array's) and the raid partitions. Under SuSE 8.2 it's detected but it say's that the ide ports are disabled in the bios.
Is this a well known problem?????
Has anybody else these problems?????
IIRC one has to go into the Promise bios at boot up to setup the RAID config there first. I have an Gigabyte GA-7VRXP with the PDC20276 on it. I have the manual for my mobo and it talks about using the "FastBuild" utility (I've never had occasion to use this). It also mentions using this utility to create to forms of the raid array, one for performance and one for security. I believe this is all about the striping vs mirroring config for the array. Did you do this?
