I rec'd an answer from SuSE support on the problem I and some others have with OO NOT running with 8.2. That is, the setup app. terminates with no error. The answer I rec'd was that it's not their problem but 3rd party. I would think that SuSE would be more concerned that there's a problem with a MAJOR app. not installing on a number of 8.2 boxen. But, I guess not.
This is part of Suse's major problem, IMO. The versioning of the distro is crazy. If you upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1, which is a *minor* upgrade
Alternatively, look at this way - SuSE are pushing ahead trying to keep the distro up to date. If they kept with all the old s/w for compatibility's sake, people would be criticising that, too. And if they leapt from 8.0 to 9.0 (<cough>RedHat</cough>) then people would criticise that, too. FWIW, I think that 8.2 is great - the best SuSE distro I've seen yet. I would be very confident showing it to Windows friends and recommending that they switch.
