Thanks Peter, actually I followed another response and user "acpi=off" at boot and that did the trick... now I have to figure out how to use my PDA under Linux :) How do I address it etc? thanks all Ahbaid. Peter B Van Campen wrote:
Dear Abaid,
Sorry I didn't explain more thouroghly; Disable the USB in BIOS only till the install completes; my suspicion is that the install scripts get confused, not the working system. ................ PeterB

Thanks Peter, I wish this wasn't the case :(
I will be dual booting this box between XP and SuSE 8.2, I really needed those USB devices operational....
This way I wouldn't have them under SuSE and whenever I rebooted I would need to mess with the BIOS...
thanks,
I'll see if I can find some other way around this.

Dear Ahbaid ,
Yes I have seen some flakyness with how .2 deals with USB. I have had some success by disabling the USB in the motherboard bios settings.
Let us know how things go for you. ................ PeterB

I'm trying to install 8.2, the installation proceeeds fine and then just sits there at:
Detecting USB devices.....
The two USB ports have: Port 1 : USB Hub Port 2: Empty
On the USB hub I have: Palm PDA, Compact Flash Card Reader, Joystick
After the stall at the above mentioned point, I disconnected the USB hub and restarted the machine and install...
again the same problem, it hangs at
Detecting USB devices....
Has anyone run into this?
Is there a work around/fix?
thanks,
Ahbaid.
