I've just installed 8.2 on my laptop, an Asus L3, with a combo dvd/cdrw drive, with no problems: I used the dvd and have since installed a couple of extra packages from it as well. Today, however, the dvd drive has "disappeared." When trying to install a package from the dvd I get this error: dvd:///;devices=/dev/sr0 ERROR(Media:not attached) On looking at the cd settings in Yast the detected device is correct, a Toshiba dvd,/dev/hdc linked from /dev/cdrecorder/media/cdrecorder. No mention of the cdrw. I can mount a cd from the desktop no problem, as well as the SuSE dvd (that's how I ended up installing my packages) but what is Yast actually looking for: should the hardware settings show two drives, in fact? Thanks for any help you can give. David -- Vah! Denuone Latine loquebar? Me ineptum. Interdum modo elabitur
