From what I understand, Linux has S.M.A.R.T support for IDE drives. I've got a Western Digital IDE drive that I believe has bad sectors. Besides running e2fsck -c, is there a way to detect them at runtime using the SMART support built into the drive with linux? There is a commercial product called SANtool for Unix (http://www.santools.com/smart/eval.html) but I only need the basics.
