I'd say don't even bother trying to do this with Linux. Unfortunately I dno't know of any tools that allows you to do this cleanly on Linux I would simply Use Windows and use some X Server to XDMCP into a Linux box. Then I would use a Wnidows product (something like camtasia) to caputre the avi. Trying to do it with Linux is going to take you weeks to do something that you can do with Windows within minutes. Trying to capture mouse movements etc would be hard and would require a lot of tweaking. If you would rather want a flash player video instead of avi, try this: http://www.unixuser.org/~euske/vnc2swf/ I haven't tried this so I don't know how it works.
