Well, I think it's OK. The response I get from uname -a is
Linux huckleberry 2.4.20-4GB-athlon #1 Mon Mar 17 17:56:47 UTC 2003 i686
unknown unknown GNU/Linux
The driver for VT8233 seems to be present as
/lib/modules/2.4.20-4GB-athlon/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxxaudio.o
but it still isn't producing any sound.
What makes this more frustrating is that it worked OK under 8.1, and the
newer kernel in 8.2 seems to have improved it worse.
