A Samsung wireless card does not work with Suse 8.1. The pcmcia system recognises the card. The card is even mentioned on the list of cards that work with linux. Using the "iwconfig" function, to set the esssid or mode returns the error "Cannot set ESSID, function is not supported". As a result the network connection cannot be made. The latest version of the wireless extensions package had no effect either. Anyone have any experience of using this card under 8.1? Any help appreciated. *********************************************************** Upgrading to 8.2 did the trick. I think by default, ACIP support is switched on when installing Suse 8.2. By disabling all Power Management and setting the option "Plug and Play Option" to "NO" in bios AND selecting "Installation - No Acpi support" when installing Suse, the wireless card worked. Please bear this in mind when installing Suse.
