I on the other hand see no reason to reply ot the poster and also cc the list, the poster ends up with two copies. You can also do what I do (using evolution) select "reply to list" when sending a response. I would like to see replies as well to maybe pick up a point or two. The way I see it, is that when I'm asking a question, I ask the entire list. When I respond to a question, I'm responding to an individual with a problem or issue, not the list. The list is copied to allow others to share in the solution, but the list is not the primary focus of my reply- the person with the problem is.
From that standpoint, it makes perfect sense (to me) to respond to the person as opposed to the list. ~~~~~~~~ "I once thought of making a Linux distribution... then I slapped myself silly and went back to trying to cure cancer." -- Anonymous

This way when you respond, you repond directly to that person, not back to the list. If you want to respond back to the list, you can edit the to: address.
Some people have been responding to my posts and not at copying the lists. What's the point of not sharing that wisdom with the rest of the list?
Over the past 10 years we have debated that issue to death on some of the other listservs I run. (I do not run the SuSE list). I think the people who run this list do an excellent job and have the setting set correctly (and sanely).
I didn't mean to start a flamewar about it. I just -- for the reason given above -- don't understand the rationale. Furthermore, maybe there are others like me who didn't even realize I wasn't getting (my) expected behavior until I had already sent a few posts.
