Hey, People,

Left for a bit, wasn't planning to have trouble, but...

I'm running a dual boot system, and I went into configuration, and removed
windows from the list. I'm not quite ready to take it off (but will when I
install 8.2), but I don't want others accessing it as it's a security
breech.

I went into boot loader configuration, and selected "restore orginal
defaults". windows was no longer on the "reboot" menu (but still on lilo
menu)

when I was booting linux, I got a kernal panic, root unable to mount on
3:09. attempted safe settings, which gives the same result. Using the CD
(8.0 personal) and "rescue system" I'm able to get to a prompt, but I don't
know what to do from there.

Help?

or failing that, is there any windows programs that will let me access the
linux filesystem so I can backup my home directory (about 4 gigs, lots of
.mp3's and .oggs), then I'll try to hold out till my copy of 8.2 comes along

Joe
