The newest build of 2.4.18 for 8.0 is damaged or at least my machine hated it. I started to get those random lockups like 8.1 had with the out of the box kernel. I reverted back to the previous build since this machine has no users and it was a local root exploit. I had 3 hardlocks in 3 days. It's a broken build..maybe it's missing a patch. I don't know. To me it's not a big deal because I'm upgrading this box to a P4 2.8ghz at the same time I'm taking it to 8.2. For others this may be an issue.
