* DB Troll (hdbtroll@moment.net) [030327 21:58]: ->When trying to upgrade k_delft on my 8.0 with synaptic I get the ->following error after it tries rpm -U. ->sub process /bin/rpm returned an error code (2). ->What have I done wrong and how can I remedy it. Sounds like the rpm database is not happy. You should execute this.. rpm --rebuilddb This will rebuild the database. Then I would do this.. cd /var/cache/apt/archive ls k_deflt* to make sure you have just one copy of the correct version of the kernel. In case your wondering the above directory is where apt downloads everything to. It doesn't delete things automatically so if the download was successful then the file should be there. If it's there and it appears correct then do this.. rpm -Uvh k_deflt* This should update your kernel. Do not forget to run mk_initrd and lilo before you reboot or you might not be to happy yourself. After this you should be good. I updated my 8.0 box a couple days ago without any problems. latah, -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe..
