Dear All,
I decided for sure to go wireless and already went to Office Depot and got a Siemens SpeedStream 2624 Wireless Cable/DSL Router w/Print Server, a Siemens Wireless Cardbus PC Card for my laptop that has Windows 2000/Suse8 dual boot, and a D-Link AirPlus SWL-520+ PCI Adapter for my husband's Pentium II with Windows 95. Last night I tried to put it together but could not get anything working right and it was because I am such a newbie that I do not know what to do when it comes to wireless. My Desktop that has Suse8 I connected to the Siemens router with a cable and the Siemens router is hooked up with cable to my cable modem which gets its address via DHCP. I added the Siemens wireless card to my laptop and it was detected and running. I can tell that it all wants to work, but I was not sure what to do on the Siemens webpage where you set it up. I went through a process but I know I did not understand everything well so nothing worked. I had to unhook everything and rehook up my desktop to the cable modem as before so that I could even get back onto the net. Would anyone who knows about setting up wireless with Suse8 be able to guide me through this? I have read and studied as much as I can, but I am not sure how to configure everything. Below I have the steps I need help with.
How do I configure my Desktop Suse 8 to work with this router? The desktop does not have a wireless card because it is connected through a cable to the router.
How do I configure the laptop with Windows 2000 that will be networked wireless style(Siemens wireless pc card) to this router?
How do I configure my husband's Win95 ( D-link wireless pci card adaptor) desktop for this as well?
How do I configure the print server either thru Linux or Windows 2000?
I thought this was going to be a hookup and go, but there is a little bit more to it evidently. Actually, for now I just want to get my laptop working wireless style first then I will add my husband's pc when I understand this more.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Marcia
