OK, I got lsmod. I don't recognize a module for a USB to Ethernet adapter and am not sure that these modules are available in SuSE 8.1. Therefore, I am listing some of the modules where I am in doubt, with the obvious ones left out: autofs4 af_packet agpgart evdev rt18150 hid usb-ohci htc cloop Do any of these look like a good suspect to load for the adapter? I think you can enter in your knoppix the lsmod command and use for your SuSE the same modules as knoppix ;)

I forgot to add that I have already tried using the SuSE help instructions of setting up an eth1 manually, with "pegasus" as module and with static IP address, yada, yada, yada, as per ADSL (even though we use a cable modem and LinkSys router) with no success. I know that this configuration CAN work as I took the latest Knoppix boot CD system, booted the CD and everything just worked like a dream. No manual configuration of any kind. WAN/LAN access was immediate.

Brian
