Hello all, I thought I would ask on this list hoping by chance there would be someone that has done this. If this is not the appropriate list then please point me in the right direction (kindly). I have downloaded and installed the latest Java SDK "j2sdk-1.4.1_01-fcs" which everything seemed fine. When I check the dependencies on the installed version "java-1.1.8v1-19" it comes back with a big list. When I try to uninstall using rpm -e it comes back with the following error: java is needed by so_base-5.2-133 java is needed by so_en-5.2_01_569a19-30 I cannot uninstall this version without getting a dependency error. The newly installed version only comes back with one dependency. Do I have to swap the dependencies from the old version to the new somehow in order for the new SDK to take hold in the system? If so, how do I go about doing that? I have researched my fingers to the bone and still can't find anything on how to do this. Thanks in advance for any time you can give, Robert Pollard
