Hmmm... I just updated my kernel to k_deflt-2.4.20-32 using the binary rpm. I am booting fine. I didn't have to run mk_initrd. As a matter of fact, it appeared that a script in the rpm ran created the initrd for me. Rick On Thu, 2003-03-13 at 11:59, Michael Ryan wrote:
Hi list,
I ****ed up and didn't execute mk_initrd and/or lilo after a rpm update of my kernel.
Now when I boot my (SCSI) system, I get:
RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0. request_module[block-major-8]: Root fs not mounted VFS: Cannot open root device 08:01 Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:01
what's the best method to rescue this machine?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice re this problem.
