Thanks for the info but you miss the point entirely. I was stating why do you have to get new hardware in order to get the sources that you need?
You can't expect that the rest of us must stay in the eighties because you want that. Even for you there are alternatives. Like I said before: the most gpl software (except e.g. the kdebase) is not big, so even if you don't have broadband, you're able to download sources.
