Hi again,

I have just purchased SuSE 8.1 and performed a clean install on my 
daughter's Fujitsu-Siemens Celvin (EasyPC) computer, which is connected 
to a WAN/LAN with a 3Com cable modem and a LinkSys router. 
Unfortunately, while YAST2 recognizes the Ethernet NIC correctly, as SiS 
900, it is impossible to connect to DHCP and get an IP address assigned. 
I have also tried setting a static IP address of 192.168.1.111 and 
subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, neither of which works for connecting to 
the Internet or Intranet. The SiS 900 NIC is built into the Biostar 
motherboard on the Celvin and works fine with Win 98 SE installed. I 
have tried to configure the NIC under both SuSE 7.3, (and now) 8.1, 
Mandrake 9, Debian 3 rev.1 as well as Knoppix, none of which has been 
successful. This leads me to believe that the SiS 900 driver has a bug. 
I have checked the knowledge base under "SiS 900" and found nothing on 
this issue. This is getting to be a real pain. Does anyone have a 
suggestion? You have to admit I am tenacious ;-)
