Hello, Kirk.

http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/wessels_noapic.html

On my IBM 704 server, the 8.1 Pro installation worked great, but
post-install the RAID cards simply wouldn't work. APIC was switched off
during installation, but enabled for the regular boot up. Once I added the
line to disable it, the RAID cards started working immediately.

I found that "noapic" worked for me, whereas "disableapic" made no
difference.

Did you do the system erase before trying to install SuSE ? The BIOS has a
field for what OS is going to be installed, and it makes slight differences.
We had a Proliant 2500 that would refuse to have W2K Server installed if the
BIOS was set up for W2K, but would work perfectly as soon as we switched it
to make it think we were putting NT on it.

Bye for now,
Stuart.

Its hanging on the Network card... I have been told this is a common
problem.

I do have the latest P07, and have SmartServ 5.50

The system is coming from a Windows 2000 Adv Srv setup, and has worked
flawlessly....

question: How do you disable the APIC?
