Hi ! Tomorrow, in order to validate SuSE 8.1 as a viable Linux distribution inside our business (I work in a company that install Linux in others, with Software developments...), I am going to try SuSE Linux 8.1 via FTP installation. First problem I will encounter : I am going to install SuSE on a PC with a Network Card not yet supported out of the Box :( (A broadcom 440x) I need to install the driver manually, but with FTP installation I need absolutely to detect the Network Card. So I installed it today and compiled it in order to be compatible with SuSE 8.1 kernel. So I have the module ( .o ) and I would like to know how load it inside the FTP installator of SuSE ! I need the module 3 Floppy in order to get the Ethernet interface working, do I have to copy the module in this disk then edit a config file ( but Which ?) or can I download it with the installator ? Second question : The Computer has a video chipset to recognized by Xfree 4.2 (according to some friends) : The Chipset is a i845GL (From intel) and need apparently a Patch in order to work with Linux Did you get some information about it ? Redhat did not recognize at all the Chipset, and Mandrake 9 was able to start the installation with graphic interface but was unable to redetect properly the card after. Can we have Xfree 4.2.99 RPM for SuSE 8.1 ? Thanks in advance, Arnaud
