Yesterday I installed SuSE 8.1 Pro on my box which has Win98SE and SuSE 7.3Pro on it.
8.1 Pro was the SuSE default install (which includes kde3.0.3)
Last night I installed the YOU listed kde 3.0.5 security update on my 8.1pro system. This appeared to be the kdelibs security fix.
I am a SuSE and linux novice.
I did not do the kde 3.0.4 update.
I picked the 3.0.5 security because the description said all versions up to 3.0.5 had problems and it was necessary to fix kde.
Questions
1) is this going to break applicatiions if they are specifically looking for kdelibs3.0.3 that was with the suse default install?
2) Should I uninstall that YOU fix and reinstall kdelibs3.0.3?
3) I've never uninstalled anything before. Would I be better off uninstalling KDE entirely and reinstalling from The Suse CD's?
I follow this list and am confused by the horror stories people tell when trying to install/uninstall KDE.
Thank you for youe time.

Hi Tom Your updating to my knowlege is and as a newbie too. Is in order. and it wont break anything as you say. However there is a newer version out (KDE 3.1) that you might want to download and install, (after you read and fully understand how to install it) there is much help to installing this new version in the kde forums and other forums (maybe someone here in the listing know the address off hand to installing help for KDE 3.1) which was posted here many times and many ways.
