So I downloaded and compiled a kernel. And nearly everything continues working. Except the small console fonts. The strange thing is that during initialization they were there and during execution of the kbd script they disappeared. And they wouldn't come back, not even with setfont. Then I fumbled around in /etc/init.d/kbd and deleted the larger part of it. I deleted the first part which assigns values to KEYTABLE and KEYMAP variables and deleted everything from "case $1 in ..." on, which executes loadkeys, as far as I understand. Can somebody please explain me what I was doing? Why just deleting resolved the problem? Are there guidelines availables how to simplify things further? Ah, yes, it's SuSE 8.0. ------------------------------------------------- Frank Hrebabetzky Tel.: +55 / 48 / 9998 7686 Florianopolis email: frankh@terra.com.br Brazil
